Open Access (OA) refers to unrestricted online access to scholarly research publications along with the unrestricted usage of these publications in this digital and big-data era. This term and the concept of “Open Access” was first defined in three statements: the Budapest Open Access Initiative, the Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publishing, and the Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities. Publishing according to the Open Access model promotes science and education and benefits researchers and students because:

- Publications are free to be archived in any personal, institutional, or governmental repositories;
- Publications are free to be distributed or reused without asking for permission;

Everyone can freely access and download the full text of all articles published with Ant: readers of open access journals, i.e., mostly other researchers, do not need to pay any subscription or pay-per-view charges to read articles published by Ant. Open access publications are also more likely to be included in search engines and indexing databases.
The Higher Citation Impact of open access articles results from their high publicity and availability. Open access publications are demonstrably more frequently cited.
Faster Publication in ANT's open access journals is achieved by online-only availability. Accepted articles are typically published online more rapidly in Ant journals than those of traditional, subscription-based and printed journals are.
